Teachers |
 Fiona Cave
Pilates Teacher
Fiona Cave was a principal ballerina with The Royal Ballet Company for many years during the 1980’s and 1990’s
and was first introduced to Pilates as a way of improving her strength and flexibility; at the time she was a strong advocate
that Pilates should be an integral part of a professional dancers’ training and support system. Whilst
still dancing at the Royal Ballet she gave birth to her first daughter Emily, and Pilates was a huge help in assisting her
to get back to full fitness and resume dancing at a top level after only 8 weeks.
After many years as a professional dancer,
she then became the Head of Dance at the Royal Ballet School at White Lodge, where she was able to improve her teaching skills
as well as remaining fit and active. Fiona retired from the School in 1997, to concentrate on raising her family of three
children. In 2009 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Lancaster University. She has now returned to Pilates and is formally trained as a Classical
Pilates teacher, qualified to do both mat and equipment work and is using all her varied experience as both a highly trained
dancer, teacher and mum to help people achieve their own goals, at whatever level they feel most comfortable .

Anne
Leighton BSc: DIP
Sports
Massage Practitioner
Anne has
lived in Sussex for most of her life and has
always had a passion for sport and exercise.
This interest led Anne to choose sport as the
focus of her studies and then on to become her
career of choice. After graduating with a degree
in Sports Studies and Psychology her working
life began in health clubs as a fitness
instructor. After gaining a level 4 NVQ in
personal training, and various other industry
related qualifications, Anne progressed through
the ranks only to find that management was not
where her heart lay. In 2006 Anne studied to
become a Sports Massage Practitioner and hasn't
looked back since.
Anne
initially spent a season with a local rugby team
before becoming clinic based. Despite its name
sports massage is not only for sports people and
is perhaps better described as a 'functional'
massage. With a whole 'toolbox of techniques'
sports massage can be applied to achieve many
different things from relaxing and lengthening
short tight muscles, to remodelling scar tissue,
as well as preparing the body for sports
performance and aiding its recovery.
Sports
massage can therefore help:
-
Increase circulation and
lymphatic flow
-
Relieve muscular tension
-
Improve general well
being
-
Alleviate postural
imbalances and repetitive strain injuries
-
Improve sports
performance
